Gluten-Free And Wheat-Free Baked Goods

Gluten-Free And Wheat-Free Baked Goods

Writing for our Plate It Safe blog has given me a wonderful open door to trying gluten-free and wheat-free baked goods here in the Bay Area. Every Sunday I try and visit my local farmer’s market at Fort Mason in San Francisco. While it’s a smaller farmer’s market, they have such quality vendors there. One of them is FlourChylde Bakery out of Old Town Novato. They are wonderfully friendly and bake delicious wheat-free baked goods – my favorites so far being their vanilla macaroons, almond cookies, and their pumpkin bread in the Fall. FlourChylde is all over the Bay Area, so definitely find the spot closest to you and give their delicious baked-goods a try. Note that they do not claim to be a gluten-free bakery so there may be gluten in some of their goods. They will answer all of your questions should you have any concerns.

A fantastic gluten-free baked goods company we love is the famed Mariposa bakery out of Oakland, where every product they make is baked in their 100% gluten-free facility. Luckily, you can get Mariposa goods at many Bay Area farmer’s markets and restaurants. In fact, we blogged about Bistro SF recently and they feature Mariposa’s delicious gluten-free buns. While Mariposa seems to be famous for their breads, their gluten-free line up spans way beyond bread to cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cookies and more. Perfect for holidays, birthday parties, and other celebrations where you need gluten-free treats. You just can’t go wrong with Mariposa’s gluten-free baked goods.

  1. Just found your site….great work! Would you happen to know off hand if Mariposa is also nut free.

We’re heading down to the Bay Area for a few days. My kids are allergic to nuts, dairy and seeds, but gluten swells me up something fierce
